The
Rental Implementation Workgroup will focus on creating and preserving affordable
rental housing that is of high quality and is responsive to identified needs.
To accomplish this goal, subcommittees were formed around three strategic
areas: New Production, Preservation and Rural Issues. The workgroup will
implement improvements to MSHDA's development review and underwriting process
and recommend ways to maximize the various resources to produce affordable
housing, including creation of new elderly housing which allows aging in
place.
It will also focus efforts on evaluating the complete state inventory of
affordable housing for which owners are increasingly seeking exit strategies;
prioritize those projects most at risk, and create efficiencies in financing
models to preserve the maximum number of these projects, and design programs
or initiatives which incorporate features to provide the maximum public
benefit to the residents. |
